Michael + Ashley

August 23, 2022

Family. That is the first word that comes to mind when I think about this wedding day. Two amazing humans that joined two wonderful families together. Michael and Ashley were married on July 23rd of 2022 in Ashley’s childhood backyard. (Side note: July 23rd was also Ashley’s golden birthday!!!!! What an amazing way to celebrate!) I arrived at Ashley’s parents’ home and everyone was busy getting ready and working hard to make sure everything was perfect for this beautiful day! There was something so sweet and special about Ashley putting on her makeup in her childhood bedroom with her 3 beautiful sisters and her stunning momma watching. I loved that everywhere I looked there were sentimental items – like Ashley’s Bible sitting next to her bed or a photo of their family dog on the wall. Ashley did 3 first looks: one with her bridesmaids, one with her dad and (of course) one with Michael. And with each first look, I felt more and more blessed to be a part of this day. It is such an honor to witness such precious moments. It’s these kind of moments that make me so thankful that I am a wedding photographer. After the first looks, we dove right into the photos. Guys, it was soooooo hot but you would would never know! Ashley and Michael, their bridal party and family members were such troopers to endure the Indiana humidity with me! And thankfully, their wonderful neighbor allowed us to use her shaded backyard for most of the photos. One of my favorite moments from the day was when Ashley and her family were watching the guests arrive. You might not think this is something too extraordinary to write about but – here is the funny part – they were watching from her parent’s bathroom and they were all standing in the bathtub. Don’t worry, you will see it. I included a couple photos in the blog post, ha! The ceremony was so Christ centered and personal. Michael’s parents and Ashley’s parents both wrote letters to the couple that the pastor read and many tears were shed as we heard the love that these parents have for their precious children. The reception was just as heart felt and special! Ashley and Michael wrote a personal note to each guest on the back of their place card!!! I can’t imagine how much time that took but I know it made each guest feel so loved. The party was amazing because this couple hired someone to come in and teach country line dancing! I have never seen this at a wedding and it was epic!!!! The dance floor was packed with people dancing, laughing and having a wonderful time! There are so many stunning photos from this day and I could have shared them all but I did my best to pick my favorites. And here they are!
