Most of you know that I don’t really do family photos anymore. But some of you might not know why. A few years ago, my husband and I started seriously considering becoming foster parents. But our lives were so crazy and busy with his work, my work and our 3 kids – it just didn’t seem possible to add more. So in order to create some “space” in our busy lives to make room for foster care, I decided to move to only photographing weddings. But, of course, there are the occasional times that I will still photograph families. Usually it is for our family and closest friends. But there was this one time that I got to photograph my son Finn’s favorite NBA player and his family! Yep! I had the huge honor of photographing the Hayward family. We started following Gordon Hayward when he played for Butler years ago (Go Dawgs)! My husband and I were lucky enough to attend the Butler vs Duke National Championship game. Since then we have followed Gordon’s career and he quickly became a family favorite. Finn is such a big fan that he chose to be Gordon for his Wax Museum project a couple years ago. (For those of you who have done Wax Museum projects with your kids – you understand what a big deal that is! haha!) So it’s safe to say that my family was trying to figure out how to sneak into my car as I left for this session. I wanted to just share a few of the images from my time with them. And I’m still so excited and honored that I was able to do this and loved meeting Gordon and his stunning wife Robyn and their amazing children. And going back to my original point of this post – foster care. There is such an incredible need for homes for children right now. If you have ever thought about becoming a foster family or if you want to know how you can help foster families, please contact me. I would love to share my heart with you.
And I know this isn’t the best photo. I took a screen shot of my son doing his speech for his project. I can’t believe I didn’t take any photos!!!! Oh well… Just wanted to share!
