Summer. Oh the Indiana summer. It came in hot this year, and the Midwest humidity really tried to play a big part on Brad and Molly’s wedding day. My photography friends will know exactly what I mean when I say it was one of those days where your lenses fogged up the second you stepped outside. It had rained all night leading up to the wedding, leaving everything a little soggy. But luckily, the weather ended up being far kinder than the forecast suggested and we only had a couple of sprinkles during their big day.
Thankfully, Brad and Molly couldn’t have been more laid back. They never let the damp ground or the thick air bother them. They simply enjoyed every moment of their day, and that relaxed attitude made everything flow so effortlessly. Their wedding day was such a joy to photograph. They were married at the 3 Fat Labs Wedding & Event Barn in Greencastle, Indiana. It was my first time photographing there, and I absolutely loved it. Tucked back in the woods, surrounded by towering trees and beautiful landscaping, it’s such a charming venue.
They chose to do a first look so we could knock out almost all of their portraits before the ceremony, giving them plenty of time to actually enjoy cocktail hour and celebrate with their friends and family afterward. And celebrate they did. These two absolutely brought the party. I love every part of a wedding – the romantic portraits, the quiet moments, the happy tears – but I have to admit, receptions are quickly becoming some of my favorite moments to photograph. There’s just something about a packed dance floor full of people having the time of their lives that makes me smile every single time.
And yes… this is another giant blog post. Were you expecting anything different from me? There were simply too many favorite photos and too many moments I couldn’t leave out. I used to apologize for delivering (and sharing!) so many images, but I’ve finally embraced the fact that this is just who I am as a photographer. I love documenting the big moments, the little moments, and everything in between.
Brad and Molly, congratulations! Thank you so much for trusting me to capture such an incredible day. I had the best time celebrating with you both, and I’m so excited for everything that lies ahead!
