Alyssa and Jake met and fell in love at Indiana State University, so it only felt right to start their engagement session where it all began. There’s something so meaningful about getting to document a couple in a place that holds so many memories for them, and walking around campus hearing little bits and pieces of their story made the evening even more special.
As I drove to Terre Haute, a few raindrops started hitting my windshield and I was crossing my fingers that the weather would cooperate. Thankfully, the rain held off and we ended up with such a beautiful evening together. The campus was the perfect backdrop for these two, and they made my job so easy with how naturally they fit together. They are both so laid back, sweet, and clearly so happy together.
After spending the first half of the session walking around campus, we switched things up and headed to a nearby airport because Jake is a pilot. It only made sense to include such a huge part of his life in their engagement session and I loved it because it was such a fun and unique change of scenery for me as a photographer! It added such a cool, personal touch to their photos.
One of my favorite things about engagement sessions is getting a glimpse into who a couple is together, and Alyssa and Jake were so much fun to photograph. By the end of the evening, I was already counting down the days until their wedding next year at The Sixpence. I already know it’s going to be such a beautiful day surrounded by the people they love most.
